Tips to bring more Sensuality into your Dance & Life

 

Sensuality is at the core of Life.

Our senses, sexual energy, and inner fire are the ones that allow us to live, procreate, and thrive. Without them, there´s no life. In other words, without Sensuality, there´s no life.

Sure enough, we´ve turned and twisted the concept of Sensuality upside down, as we´ve done with many of the most relevant concepts in life. We´ve been told it´s something to be controlled, tamed, hidden; that we should be ashamed of it, that it´s a dangerous thing, a lower dimension of our existence. Something to diminish, not to expand. 

I disagree. 

Sensuality is, allow me to repeat, LIFE.

That´s also why I´ve decided to share a few of the PRACTICAL TIPS I use, on a daily basis, to keep me connected to my sensuality.

Ready to awaken your Inner Sensual Goddess?

 

Here we go:

 

1. Make pauses of 1-3 mins to be with yourself, close your eyes, and breathe. 

I do it while I´m dancing, working, writing, working, living. Just pausing for a couple of minutes, remaining within, can operate miracles.

It connects you to yourself and that connection opens the doors of your sensuality.

 

2. Slow down. 

Enjoy your meals instead of rushing through them; enjoy the water on your skin when you take a bath; stop to smell the flowers, literally, and that delicious stew you have in the oven; take time to feel pleasure in the small, apparently ordinary things.

 

3. Stretch.

I do it in my Yoga practice and in the warm-up in my Egyptian Dance courses but a good stretch can happen any time, anywhere.

Feel the areas of the body that are begging for your attention; stretch them, breathe slowly into them; offer them your time and attention.

 

4. Massage your body.

Another easy self-love task you can introduce in your daily life.

I do it during a pause in my work, before I fall asleep or when I´m watching a movie. 

You don´t need to be a professional massage therapist - identify the areas of your body where tension is accumulated and massage them, following your instinct. The key is to search for relief, pleasure, relaxation.

 

5. Cook.

Put some warm jazz on; close the door and cook up a storm.

Use spices, herbs, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Touch them, look at them, feel their smell and taste. 

Take time to cook healthy, delicious meals.

 

6. Invest in a healthy sexual life.

This applies if you´re in a relationship or not.

Sexuality isn´t limited to the sex we may have with a partner; sexuality is a natural part of our existence and an essential part of our health.

If you´re single, masturbate. Yes, do it. Lovingly, shamelessly. Your health and joy will thank you for it.

If you´re in a relationship, create a magical environment where sex is treated and experienced as the potentially magical, revealing, spiritual experience it actually is. Caress your partner as you caress yourself; be generous; express your passion; honor your sexuality and the one of your partner.

 

7. Wear clothes that feel good on your skin.

Choose fabrics that caress your skin; choose comfort over vanity.

Your clothes should hug your body, not limit it.

 

8. Watch my 2 favorite movies on Sensuality, both from Arabic female directors.

Every time I need a reminder or a boost on my sensuality, I go back to these movies - they never fail to fire me up: "Dunya" by Jocelyn Saab & "Caramel" by Nadine Labaki 

  

 

9. Develop self-love.

A cornerstone of Sensuality, Egyptian Dance, Creativity, Life. 

Without self-love, there´s no pleasure - you won´t know how to claim it, receive it and share it; without self-love, there´s no sensuality - you won´t know how to awaken, develop, and express it.

 

10. Learn authentic Egyptian Dance.

I know no other dance as powerful and sensual as Egyptian Dance.

If taught properly, and holistically, it can awaken your human potential - that includes your Sensuality - like no other.
