Have you ever met a Teacher who changed you or/and the course of your life?

They say the teacher appears when the student´s ready. I´ve always been ready to learn; always curious, thriving for more, deeper, better.

I´m many things - a Teacher, a Dancer, a Choreographer, an Author and - but, mostly, I´m an Eternal Student. Understandably, loads of powerful teachers have popped, from time to time, into my life.

From all the amazing teachers I was privileged to study with, Mahmoud Reda stands out as the most generous, influential, dance & life-changing.

He taught me everything he knew about Egyptian Dance - Oriental and Folkloric - but the biggest GIFT he offered me was of a different sort.

Whenever I doubted myself, my talent, my ability to turn my dreams into reality, he´d remind me I WAS CAPABLE AND WORTHY OF ANYTHING I PUT MY HEART AND WORK INTO.

Whenever I felt hopeless, mad at the world, he´d remind me THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND OPPORTUNITIES; HE´D INVITE ME TO FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE, BE GRATEFUL, AND LET THE NEGATIVE PASS ME BY.

Whenever my heart closed, due to disappointments, pain, grief, he´d remind me THERE´S TOMORROW AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Great Teachers aren´t great just because they share the knowledge of their craft.

For me, a great teacher is someone who LOVES the student and lifts her/him up;

For me, a great teacher is someone who´s walked his/her Hero´s Journey and is generous enough to help the student walk hers/his;

For me, a great teacher is someone who´ll remind the student of her/his worth - again and again.

Because there´s no evolution, in dance or in life, without a BASE of SELF-CONFIDENCE, OPEN HEART, and SOUL.

That GIFT, Mahmoud Reda gave to me. That GIFT, I offer my students - the ones I meet in my work around the world, the ones I meet at my Private Online Coaching Programs and the ones at Joana Saahirah´s Online Dance School.
