Myth #7 - Egyptian Dance is Hermetic & Dangerous

Here´s the last of the 7 Myths about Egyptian Dance I promised to deliver. For once, I´ll have to agree with it. Sort of.

Hermetic comes from "Hermes Trismegistus", considered the founder of science, religion, mathematics, geometry, alchemy, philosophy, medicine and magic. A combination of the Egyptian God Thoth of wisdom, learning and communications and the Greek God Hermes, messenger of the gods.

Egyptian Dance is hermetic - close to/restricted/mysterious - to the ones who aren´t willing to open their hearts and move from their souls. There are doors of Initiation that won´t be opened, in this dance, unless we´re open to them.

Egyptian Dance is hermetic - it is - but only to the ones who´ll put their ego above their soul and their ambition above their dignity.

Egyptian Dance is hermetic, no doubt, to the ones who have lost touch with Love.

What about the "dangerous" claim?

With this one, I agree 100%. I wouldn´t call it a myth but a fact.

Here´s the tricky thing: most of us presume Egyptian Dance is dangerous because it´s seductive, lewd, amoral when, in fact, Egyptian Dance is dangerous for totally different reasons.

The dance is, at a great extent, what we make of it. Independently of that, it is dangerous.

Egyptian Dance is dangerous to Patriarchy.
Dangerous to Ignorance.
Dangerous to The Prescribed Place of Women in Society.
Dangerous to a Society where a Woman cannot be Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritually Empowered, simultaneously.
Dangerous to the "status quo".
Dangerous to old myths, prejudices, and misconceptions.
Dangerous to the small-minded folks who refuse to believe in Magic.

Dangerous. As it should be. Keeping the gates of alchemy closed to the non-initiated.

The question is: how willing are we to open our hearts and our minds?

Once they´re open, Egyptian Dance is no longer hermetic. Or dangerous.

Once our hearts and minds are where they´re supposed to be - free -, Egyptian Dance is no longer hermetic or dangerous - it is, and very few people will see it coming - a return to our (almost) lost humanity. Our tender spots, our consciousness, our blood, flesh, and bones.
