Welcome to episode #54 of "The Oriental Café" podcast with Wendy Buonaventura, the author of the iconic book "The Serpent of the Nile", and a renowned dancer and teacher in the field of Oriental Dance.
In this episode, I, Joana Saahirah, your excited host, and our guest, one I´ve been dreaming about for years, talk about the danger of the dancing female body, the wonders of being introduced to Arabic Cultures, tabus and prejudices, what it means to dance and write about a polemic and misunderstood art form, which most erroneously call "belly dance", the life of a dancing author, and how it feels to live a life dedicated to the Arts. We also dig into Isadora Duncan´s magic and the courage to be oneself.
