Special Tip for Professional Oriental Dancers

Give everything. All the time. Put yourself - heart and soul - in what you do. Hold nothing back and be 100% generous.

This is counter-intuitive advice, and one many teachers will tell you not to follow.

I´ve studied with teachers who held information, who didn´t deliver the gold in fear that we, the students, would steal it from them and become dangerous competition.

Although competition is an inherent part of the life of a professional dancer, we don´t have to subscribe to it. We can let others compete against us while not competing with them, staying in our lane, and focusing on our craft. 

Furthermore, nobody can "steal your spotlight" if your spotlight is real; if what you´re doing is unique.

I can give everything I know to my students and audience and still, they won´t be me; nobody, except me, can do things the way I do. 

I am Unique - and so is everybody else - and as a unique individual, I can be copied, sabotaged, followed, and even stolen but I cannot be doubled. There´s only 1 Joana Saahirah. There´s only 1 YOU. 

Absolute GENEROSITY is the key to a strong, long, and powerful career that leaves a legacy behind. The kind of path I wish every professional Oriental Dancer experiences.
